Ignored Jammu cannot afford complacency: AIIMS CC | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 21: Placing on record its deep gratitude to the people of Jammu region on his own personal behalf and on behalf of the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) for their unflinching support to the ongoing agitation for the establishment of AIIMS in Jammu and completion of artificial lake project over Tawi river, chairman of the ACC Abhinav Sharma on Sunday made a passionate appeal to them to start preparing themselves for a relentless and result-oriented movement after July 21 in case the PDP-BJP coalition government failed to honour the June 18 written commitment that it shall obtain appropriate order in this regard from Government of India by or before 20th July 2015. He also expressed his sincere thanks to the media for its concern for the genuine causes of the people of Jammu region and said the support the ACC got from the media helped it a lot make the anti-Jammu authorities read the writing on the wall and come forward for negotiations. We have crossed just the first hurdle. There are many more hurdles yet to be crossed. Hence, it is imperative on part of all of us to use the available time for mobilization across Jammu region. We cannot afford to go complacent just because we have got a written commitment from BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister and Forest and Social Welfare Minister. People of Jammu region have suffered a lot because of complacency. We have to be alert and in an agitational mood to avert the possibility of the Kashmir-centric authorities cheating yet again the people of Jammu region, said Sharma while addressing first joint press conference after reaching an agreement with the BJP Ministers in the coalition government. Abhinav Sharma was flanked by Senior Vice-President Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Sham Langer, All J&K Transport Union General Secretary Vijay Kumar Sharma, President, Amar Kashtriya Rajput Sabha Narayan Singh, former president Bar Association Jammu B S Slathia, Chairman Legal and Human Rights Deptt JKPCC Advocate K K Pangotra, retired IAS officer K B Jandial, working president J&K Vishav Karma Sabha Shashi Verma and Prof Hari Om. The ACC chairman, who also happens to be the president of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association, Jammu, also took the opportunity to inform that all the constituents of the ACC have endorsed the agreement between the ACC and the ministers in the coalition government. Not a single constituent out of its nearly 100 constituents opposed the decision, he said, adding that the ACC stands united like a rock as before and that all the constituents of the ACC are committed to achieving their two immediate goals at whatever cost. The ACC will not let down the suffering people of Jammu region. It will come up to their expectations, he reassured them, and reiterated that the ACC will not leave any stone unturned to make the authorities fulfill their solemn commitment made at the venue of chain hunger strike. Abhinav Sharma also pooh-poohed the claim of certain vested interests who had been striving to the hilt to confuse the general public by giving them to understand that the ACC was the creation of certain defeated political parties. The ACC was non-political organization and it shall remain so because the people of the region have lost their faith in the political parties. He once again appealed to the people to remain united against the anti-Jammu forces so that they achieved what was their legitimate due share in the polity and economy of the state. |
