Flagging off Budgam-Baramulla Demu train | How could name of Ram Madhav appear in official Advt? | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 9: Northern Railway advertisement appeared in many local and national dailies on Thursday, the day Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu flagged off Budgam-Baramulla Demu train from Srinagar Railway station at 4:30 pm. The names which appeared in the advt included Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, MoS in PMO Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha, Minister for Revenue, Government of J&K, Javaid Mustafa Mir and Member of Lok Sabha Mehbooba Mufti. Nirmal Singh, Jitendra Singh, Manoj Sinha, Javaid Mustafa Mir, Mehbooba Mufti and Ram Madhav were shown as "Guests of Honour". Three more names of "distinguished guests" also appeared in the advertisement and these included Members of Parliament Tariq Hamid Karra, Shamsher Singh Manhas and Jugal Kishore Sharma. The inclusion of the names of ministers and Members of Parliament shouldn't surprise anybody. Inclusion of names of persons holding positions in the government and parliament in the official advertisements is a normal thing. It's a routine matter. However, what surprised was the name of BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav in the said government advertisement. Madhav is neither a minister in the state government nor in the union government. Nor is he a Member of Parliament or Member of J&K Legislative Assembly from Srinagar. In fact, he is not a resident of J&K. He only holds a position in a party. The function was official. How could the name of Ram Madhav appear in the said add? Was it due to some oversight? Or, did someone manipulate the advertisement? If oversight, then no problem. But if his name appeared as a result of some manipulation at political level, then it was not a good precedence. Public money cannot be used for projecting persons holding positions in the party. You cannot project a person using public money for the simple reason that besides being national general secretary of the BJP, he is in-charge party affairs in J&K. |
