Early Times Report

Jammu, July 9: While the workers of over twenty gun factories at industrial estate Gangyal are struggling hard to get their legitimate salaries, the owners of these gun factories are making huge fortunes due to a well knit nexus.
Sources told Early Times that the most of these gun factory owners have amassed huge money from the gun manufacturing business over the hard work put in by the skilled workers who had been constantly exploited by them.
"The gun manufacturing is a hugely lucrative business which has been controlled by a bunch of businessmen since many years. The owners of these factories have planned this business in such a manner that from manufacturing to retail sale of guns, the entire margins of profit remain with them," they said further adding that due to monopoly of these owners, the rates of the guns in the market are too fixed by them to obtain higher profit with in connivance of government officials but when it comes to pay the salaries to their workers, these owners deprive them of their legitimate wages.
"They sell most of the guns by under billing due to which they get more illegitimate profits," they informed. Interestingly, the guns which are sold to the dealers by these gun factory owners generally belong to their family members and the retail outlets are also in the names of either the gun factory or one of their family members.
While giving details of gun manufacturing to its sale, sources said that these gun manufactures sell their guns to dealers who are their family members at low nominal price to save tax and then these guns are sold at retail outlets which are again owned by these gun manufactures. "A Single Barrel Gun is sold to a dealer at the rate of Rs 15,000 but bill shows just Rs 7000. That means for every single gun, the owners earn an amount of 8000 in black. Similarly Double Barrel Gun is sold at the rate of Rs 16000 against bill of Rs 8500," they added. They further disclosed that the gun dealers, who are mostly these manufactures who had opened these outlets, sell a single barrel gun at of 30,000 to 35000 and Double Barrel Gun is sold at of ` 40,000 to ` 50,000 thereby they earn huge profits but they don't give genuine wages to their workers.
