PM for effective steps to contain radicalization of Kashmiri youth | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 9: The Modi government has decided to take immediate steps to arrest the radicalization of the youth in the Kashmir. The Prime Minister has directed the Home Ministry to hold consultation with the other agencies to chalk out a strategy in this regard. The Modi government is getting a bit worried about the radicalization of the youth in the Kashmir. Security officials have briefed the prime minster that ISI and other radical agencies are getting huge funds from the Gulf countries who are sending in petro- dollars to fund this programme. According to the sources the national security advisor Ajit Doval, an old hand on Kashmir, after studying the developments, first raised the issue with the Prime minister. Source said the Modi deeply concerned over the developments, as it could spread in other areas, had reportedly asked the Doval to chalk out a plan and strategy on this regard. Sources said the it was party of the strategy that former IB chief Asif Ibrahim was appointed as special Envoy on Extremism and Counter-Terrorism . Ibrahim, considered one of the finest intelligence chief, was roped in this regard. Sources said the intelligence agencies say that the process of radicalization was started about five-year back and people were given in lot of money to abandon their 'liberal' practices and in return were even given offers to go work in the Gulf countries and also in the Saudi Arabia. "The intelligence agencies have said the process started in the Kashmir has been planned to fan out in the Muslim areas of the Jammu region and some signs of it has already started coming out," said a senior official. In Jammu and its adjoining areas, where there have not been much distinction between Hindus and Muslims, the efforts are being made by pumping in the money to create the distinction. It is for this reason that government has also decided to indentify the Rohinga muslims as they are easy prey by such anti-national agencies and they can carry out the designs of the radicalization. |
