Jammu, July 9: As part of its ongoing mass mobilization programme aimed at educating public opinion about the sanctioned All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for Jammu, AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) leadership on Thursday addressed civil society members at the Central Mahajan Sabha, Jammu. According to press release, the meeting was organized by All India Shiromani Pargaal Biraadri and was presided over by its president Vijay Kumar Pargaal. Addressing the civil society members, chairman of ACC Abhinav Gupta underlined the need for establishing an AIIMS in Jammu. He said it was announced for Jammu and it must be established as per the promise. He also reflected on the circumstances under which the ACC called off its 72-hour-long bandh call and suspension of the six-day-old chain hunger strike and said the ACC showed a goodwill gesture following the commitment Dy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat gave in writing that the necessary orders for the establishment of AIIMS in Jammu will be issued latest by July 20. Chairman of the ACC also appreciated the statements made by DyCM Nirmal Singh and prabhari of J&K Avinash Rai Khanna that an announcement on AIIMS for Jammu will be made as per the promise, but, at the same time, underlined the need to remain alert and active so that the authorities take the developing situation in the Jammu region seriously. He told civil society members that the next 11 days are very crucial and we all have to pool our resources to make our genuine movement a success. He also took the opportunity to express thanks for the overwhelming response the ACC has been evoking from across the region from all sections of society and reassured the people of the region that the ACC will not let them down.
