Wadipora locals protest over 'non availability of doctor' | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 9: People from different hamlets of adjoining Handwara town staged a protest alleging that from past ten days, not a single doctor has turned up in Government Hospital located at Wadipora Rajwar in the town. "Ten days ago, authorities have transferred the sole doctor who had been serving the patients single handedly from past years reasons better known to nodal authorities, but people are left at the mercy of Almighty, they said. By transferring the aforesaid doctor, the authorities seems least bothered to depute any doctor in the hospital," the protesters said and added now Junior Assistant runs the affairs of the hospital. The protestors which included children and women from the locality demanded from the authorities to post a doctor or two at earliest to the Wadipora hospital and the authorities should ensure that doctors stay in the hospital during night hours as well as in case of any emergency the people have to rush to private hospitals or to Handwara. When contacted Block Medical Officer (BMO) Zachildara Dr Fareed said that department has been facing acute shortage of manpower even then we'll see the case. "The matter has been communicated to higher and soon doctors will be deputed," he said. |
