HC seeks vacancy position of medicos in Govt hospitals | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 20: The state high Court today directed government to file report about the number of vacancies in district hospital and primarily health centres in the Jammu and Kashmir. Hearing a suo-moto PIL, a division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi passed the direction after hearing Advocate General Jehangir Iqbal Ganie who sought time to file the report about the vacancy position. "There are 36 medical officers positioned and 76 others are vacant in Udhampur," Ganie said and sought time to file vacancy position of doctors in other districts. For collecting information with regard to the vacancies, the advocate general sought further time from the bench. Later the court posted the case on July 23. Last week, taking serious note of functioning of Health and Medical Education Department, the court had directed the advocate general to file a status report, indicating the sanctioned strength of doctors and paramedical staff in each district hospital and primary health centres of the State as also details of doctors and paramedical staff actually working and number of vacant posts.
