CC to intensify agitation from today | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 20: Outraged at the failure of the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and other BJP leaders to fulfill their commitment to get the AIIMS announced for Jammu region within one month, AIIMS Coordination Committee, an amalgamation of over 70 socio-religious and political organizations has decided to intensify its stir over the issue. The decision to relaunch the agitation seeking AIIMS for Jammu was taken at a meeting late Monday evening. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Bar Association and Chamber of Commerce and Industry are scheduled to meet on Tuesdayto chalk out future course of action. On June 20, 2015 , Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh along with Social Welfare and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat had given a written assurance to the AIIMS Coordination Committee that they would approach the central govt to obtain and order for setting up of AIIMS in Jammu by or before July 20, 2015. Ironically, as the deadline lapsed today the senior state BJP leaders who were upbeat and hopeful of formal announcement ahead of completion of deadline shied away from speaking on the issue. "All I can say BJP is committed for setting up of AIIMS in Jammu and it is a matter of time when a formal announcement would be made", a senior BJP leader unhappy with the political developments claimed. Meanwhile, people of Jammu also reacted angrily over BJP backtracking from its promise and are ready to take on the government headon over the issue. Emerging out of the meeting of AIIMS coordination committee a senior member said," We have decided to continue our chain hunger strike from Tuesday morning to pressurize the state government to take up the issue of AIIMS for Jammu on priority basis." |
