Billiard & Snooker club sealed over alleged 'charges of betting' | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, July 20: Following complaints regarding alleged betting (a sort of gambling) at a local 'Pool Club', the Kishtwar police in presence of Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar today sealed a Billiard and Snooker club at Dar Market Kishtwar while another club owner was issued warning to mend his ways. As per the details available with "Early Times" on the bases of complaint that the minor son of a complainant (name withheld) lost money (which he took from his home) during alleged betting at local Billiard and Snooker Club, the sleuths comprising incharge Tehsildar Kishtwar Daljeet Parihar, DySP HQ Kishtwar Touseef Ahmed and SHO Police Station Kishtwar under the supervision of SP Kishtwar Yougal Manhas conducted a raid at two clubs. Sources said, "During the raids the team scrutinized the relevant documents pertains to registration however following the failure to produce relevant/requisite documents, the Police sealed the club at Dar market while the team issued warning to another pool club owner to set the club in order. "The team also has directed the pool owner to install CCTV Cameras and also advice him not to allow minor activities inside the club, sources said.After sealing the pool club, legal action under law has been initiated against the non registered club owner in the court of Tehsildar Kishtwar. Meanwhile the locals have hailed the police action and urged upon the police and administration to keep close watch on the functioning pool clubs to check the menace of social crime like betting. |
