Students, locals protest against alleged closure of Govt Pry School Dana | | | Early Times Report Rajorui, July 31: Students of Govt Primary School Dana under the jurisdiction of Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Rajouri and their parents today held a protest demonstration in front of the Office of Deputy Commissioner alleging that Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri has closed said school despite the fact that the school has good infrastructure and requisite strength of students. Protesting students of Primary School Dana and their parents alleged that the nearest primary School is approximately 1 kilometer from the existing place in and it would be difficult to send children in primary wing at a distant place. "Primary school at Dana has more than 20 Students enrolled in the current academic session and besides that the School has a building in good shape yet authorities have closed the school," lamented Mohd Farooq and Ilyyas Ahmed parents of students. After staging protest the deputation of parents and students called on Mumtaz Choudhry, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and apprised him about their demand. "Instructions have been issued to CEO to recheck the enrollment in this school so that the students may not suffer due to some clerical mistakes while preparing the reports in the month of September last year" said ADC Rajouri. A H Fani, Chief Educational Officer (CEO) Rajouri said that atleast 179 Government Primary Schools in the district have been merged with nearest primary Schools as these Schools had not required strength of the students i.e below 20. "These Schools were merged after the reports submitted by the concerned ZEOs in the month of September last year, he said and alleged that some locals in nexus with some teachers have increased the student strength and demanding reopening of these closed schools. |
