Militant-turned-separatist glorifies militancy | Nayeem shares militant posts on FB | | Early Times Report srinagar, July 31: Former militant-turned- separatist leader Nayeem Ahmed Khan might have found his personal fortune in giving up arms to join more-lucrative politics of separatism but as of now he is seemingly glorifying militancy by sharing posts from militant pages on social media. Nayeem Ahmed Khan, who owns a Facebook account in his name, has recently shared a post carried by an account in the name of militant commander Burhan Kashmiri, who has emerged as face of educated youth taking to arms. Police suspects that the Burhan Kashmiri account is handled by militants. In the latest, Khan has shared the militant post pertaining to hanging of Yakub Memon. Khan, however, looks peculiar for not making personal comments on the post though he makes others do so. A police official who has been keenly monitoring such activities said, "It's a really unfortunate that though these people are surrendered militants and enjoy a fortune through politics are now making the youth vulnerable to indoctrination." "This is sheer glorifying of militancy by these turncoats," he said pleading anonymity. Police sources said sometime back also Khan had shared the group photo of young militants operational in south Kashmir. "But he subsequently deleted the post," he said. In the garb of Kashmir issue, people say, Khan's family works for personal benefits, a charge denied by the couple. Just some time back his wife, Hameeda Nayeem who works in Kashmir University came to the support of her boss, the KU VC asking students not to go for strike over arrest of a varsity student though otherwise the couple fuels such controversies. Meanwhile government has already taken a serious note of glamorizing of militancy revival. On July 4, the police moved court seeking directions for blocking the pages on Facebook which carried pictures of 11 young Kashmiri militants donning army fatigues and holding firearms. Inspector General (Kashmir) S J M Gilani has been claiming that the moment order is received, police will ask the social networking site to block the pages carrying pictures of the Hizbul Mujahideen militants which included Burhan Wani alias Burhan Kashmiri, who has become a poster-boy for the outfit. While the pages have been taken off, the police are eager to block such pages from the computer server itself. Police sources said the IP address of such pages or accounts seem to be masked. "We are trying to break the code and the day we do it, there'll be a breakthrough," the sources said. Burhan, a resident of Tral, has emerged as the young face of Hizbul Mujahideen in the Valley. Innumerable images of Burhan and posts extolling him are uploaded on social networking sites like Facebook. Young militant leaders like Burhan, with an appeal among the youth of the region, are helping swell the militant ranks, a development, security agencies feel is worrisome for the Valley. |
