Lal Singh orchestrates statement on AIIMS for Jammu and Kashmir | | | ET Report Jammu, July 31: The state health minister Lal Singh today remained noncommittal on issuing a statement on two separate AIIMS for Jammu and Kashmir and scripted his words in line with those of Union Health Minister while emphatically saying that both regions will get equal share of health care through AIIMS. When asked as to whether for Jammu and Kashmir a special provision for AIIMS would be mooted by amending the constitutional guidelines of the AIIMS institution breaking it into two halves for Jammu and Kashmir, Lal Singh had no specific answer for that. Remaining evasive on the queries as to whether the state would be sanctioned two separate AIIMS to Jammu and Kashmir , the health minister focused on the statement issued by union health minister J P Nadda saying that similar facilities of AIIMS would be given to both the regions. "The government is committed to give equal facilities to both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir on the pattern of AIIMS and whatever would be received to Kashmir will be in equal terms given to Jammu also ," said Lal Singh. He also added that both the regions would get equal financial budget including land, infrastructures, faculties and two separate directors for both the regions required for the fulfillment of heath needs on the pattern of AIIMS. He however remained non committal on two AIIMS for the state. Lal Singh also gave a brief historical perspective of establishment of AIIMS like facilities in 2004 in Jammu by the then NDA government which he said was scuttled away by the then coalition government of Congress and PDP. Lal Singh was addressing media persons today after the Union Health Minister JP Nadda's yesterday statement on AIIMS saying that keeping in view regional aspirations of people, health ministry will provide similar facilities of AIIMS in both Jammu& Kashmir regions gave vent to AIIMS Coordination committee's ire which announced three days stringent bandh . Talking to Early Times , Abhinav Sharma, AIIMS CC chairman and president Bar Association Jammu, said that after the central minister has gave an ambiguous statement on AIIMS for Jammu, Lal Singh carries no authority on it and Committee does not buys his argument. "The CC has got a written document from deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh which clearly reads that an order for separate AIIMS for Jammu will be obtained. AIIMS is an autonomous institute with clear separate guidelines and functions independent of government interferences. Besides, saying that similar facilities will be given to both regions on AIIMS pattern amounts to tampering with its guidelines and sanctity. This is a clear deception with people of Jammu which ACC will never buy," said Abhinav Sharma adding that only separate AIIMS for Jammu will end their agitation. |
