Fake facebook page puts Dr Shah Faesal in tight spot | | | Akshay Azad
Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 3: Dr Shah Faesal, the first Kashmiri who topped IAS examination in 2009, has been caught between the devil and the deep sea as a few miscreants are running a fake account on his name on social networking website facebook and are posting objectionable comments. Despite repeated warnings given by Dr Shah Faesal-who is at present District Development Commissioner Bandipora- on the facebook page, being handled by an impersonator, the latter has refused to remove the controversial posts. On social networking site Facebook, a page is being run by some impersonator, with name Dr. Shah Faisal (instead of using real name of IAS officer Dr. Shah Faesal, impersonator is using name Dr. Shah Faisal) with original photographs of IAS officer. The impersonator on facebook page on July 31 at 1.18 PM, posted a controversial post on the day Yakub Memon was hanged to death. The controversial post uploaded by impersonator reads: "The whole issue of Yakub Memon was raised at a critical time when BJP was surrounded by the biggest corruption of all time Vyapam, Lalit Modi and many other cases and the central government played a strong card of Yakub Memon's execution. By this they succeeded in diverting the focus from scams to Yakub. Good job. Successful job. Good Governance. Aache Din." The impersonator had also given the link of story, "What B Raman really said about Yakub Memon", carried by a website www.dailyo.in", on the facebook page. Comments started pouring on the post some in favour and some against the post. A facebook user Rajveer Singh termed the sentence to Yakub Memon unfair, while another user Dipesh Mishra, who advised the impersonator to learn from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The IAS officer, Dr. Shah Faesel, who somehow got word about the fake page, also wrote a comment which reads as, "Admin this is my first and last warning to you. Delete this fake page or I will be forced to take action. Friends the page is on my name and I don't know who is running it. Please be careful." A total of 59 comments and scores of counter comments are on that fake facebook page. Talking to Early Times, DDC Bandipora, Shah Faesel said that he had already complained to facebook for impersonating his name, but so far no action has been taken and still the post was on the impersonator's wall. He said that a dozen of facebook accounts and pages have been running using his name plus photographs and one fake Twitter account by his name was also running. "Last year also, I had encountered the same problem after which I had reported to Cyber Cell branch, which removed the page", he said, adding that shortly he would file a complaint with J&K Police. The RTI activist Raman Sharma said that if an IAS officer has been harassed by impersonators and no action has been taken by agencies concerned, then one could easily gauge the plight of a common man, who could easily fall victim to impersonator. He said that the law enforcing agencies, especially the cyber cell wing should take action against the impersonators. |
