Locals seek ‘relocating of School’ to its original place | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Aug 3: Residents of Gopala Chak Panchayat, Hiranagar today called on District Developemnt Commissioner (DDC) Kathua Ajay Singh Jamwal and appealed him to relocate Govt Primary School Gopala Chak to its original place as department has recently shifted the school to 3 km away in close vicinity of International Border (IB). The locals said it is difficult for students to reach in the school due to lack of proper public transport facility and appealed that the school must be re-shifted to its original place at village Gopala Chak. Ashok Kumar, social activist of area who also led the deputation said poor people cannot afford to send their minor children 3-4 km away from village at their own cost. "Government had ordered to shift the School at 500 mtrs distance ironically education department without adhering to norms shifted the School to 3-4 km from village which is unfair and injustice to students of school," he added. Sardar Singh, concerned Sarpanch apprised DDC Kathua Government should merge other Primary School Messa which has only 5 students with this and enhance the strength and the joint school can be opened in original place at Gopal Chak. He urged DDC Kathua to instruct CEO Kathua to conduct survey and report the status within days. After paying a patient ear to the appraisal of the deputation, the DDC Kathua Ajay Singh Jamwal assured to take up matter with concerned education authorities to redress their issues. |
