Srinagar, Aug 3: A city court here today issued notice to state's sports minister Imran Ansari and members of J&K Cricket Association represented by him even as it directe the rebel group not to oust the elected members of the group headed by Farooq Abdullah. "Subject to the objections, defendants/non-applicants shall not oust the elected members /office bearers from their post for which they have been elected on 12 May 2014 without following the due course of law till next date of hearing," 1st Additional District & Sessions Judge Srinagar, Madan Lal, said and posted the case on August 8. Besides Imran Ansari, the notice was issued to JKCA members including Mehboob Iqbal, Iqbal Shah, Abdul Rouf, Javaid Ahmad Kitab and Sudershan Mehta. Rakesh Kumar, vice chairman (Jammu) was present before the court. In the suit, Nehru has challenged the 20 July election conducted in JKCA with the rebel group electing J&K sports minister Imran Ansari as the president of the state's cricketing governing body. In the suit, Nehru has also alleged that Rakesh Kumar and Sudershan Mehta proceeded with various "undesirable activities" while functioning as the vice-chairman Jammu and joint secretary respectively, including "improper operation and utilisation of bank accounts of the association." "Their action resulted into joining various issues by them on false and unfounded grounds against the elected office bearers of the association, in as much as conducting unauthorized, illegal and uncalled for activities in the name of the association," he said. He said they broke open the locks of various office rooms of the office bears of the Association , ransacking the same and caused loss and damage to the furniture etc. On July20, shortly after 42 of the 64-member JKCA declared Ansari as the new president unopposed, claiming that Farooq did not contest, a petition was moved by the former chief minister's faction in the court of sub-judge Amarjeet Singh Langey, who had stayed the election results until July 31. |
