JU may not allow Colleges in sports meet | | | Early Times Reoprt JAMMU, Aug 3: Finding a lot of colleges not complying with the orders issued by the authorities concerned for submitting part (Rs 35 per student) of the annual sports fee collected from the students at the time of admissions, the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education contemplates not to allow participation of defaulting colleges in the upcoming inter-college competitions. "The annual Inter-College competitions are scheduled to start from August 18 with the holding of Cross Country event on the campus and just nine colleges have submitted the share of sports fee collected by them from the students at the time of admission," Director Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau told Early Times. Adding he said, "Considering their non-seriousness and disobedience of the orders being issued at the higher level, we at the Directorate think not to allow the erring colleges to participate in sports meet this time." Pertinent to mention here that in the year 2013 the first such order was issued to the colleges by the JU authorities. And, despite verbal assurance by the representatives from these Colleges at the time of finalization of fixtures, most of the Colleges fail to deposit the fee. "At present, there are 213 affiliated Colleges of the JU, who were issued such orders but only nine colleges have submitted the fee up till now. To build up pressure, the department has also decided to take up the matter with Vice Chancellor," mentioned Prof Bhau. |
