Arun Kumar, B R Sharma most probable candidates for Chief Secretary's post | | | Jammu, Aug 25: Amid reports of resignation offered by Mohamamd Iqbal Khandey from the post of Chief Secretary, the discussion over appointment of new Chief Secretary has started in the bureaucratic circles and Arun Kumar and B R Sharma are tipped to be the most probable candidates for the post. Going by the seniority of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers of J&K cadre, Arun Kumar, a 1979 batch IAS officer is on the top of the list. The second in the list is Sonali Kumar, also a 1979 batch IAS officer of J&K cadre, who is scheduled to attain age of superannuation on 30th of November 2015 besides the first in the list Arun Kumar will retire in January 2017, sources said. Ashok Angurana is third in the list of seniormost IAS officers of 1980 batch and is scheduled to retire next year. Khursheed Ahmed Ganai, a 1982 batch IAS officer is fourth in the list but his service is scheduled to end in October. The fifth in the list is BR Sharma, a 1985 batch IAS officer of J&K cadre and he can also be probable candidate for the post. A decision regarding the appointment of new Chief Secretary is to be taken by State Cabinet and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is reportedly not in the state. "Though there is no official confirmation over acceptance of resignation of Chief Secretary and if the resignation is accepted, the name of new Chief Secretary will be decided in the next Cabinet meeting", sources said. |
