Noida University expels 50 JK students | PM scholarship program hits another road block | |  Asif Iqbal Naik
Early Times Report Kishtwar, Aug 25: Discrimination with Jammu Kashmir students selected under Prime Minister's scholarship scheme continues unabated. This time the Noida International University has expelled at least 50 students after Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India failed to release the scholarship amount in their favour. Reports said the Noida International University instead of pursuing the matter with ministry of MHRD for early clearance of the pending scholarship amount on account of the tuition fee of the expelled students; asked them to leave the university campus as well as the hostel accommodation forcing these students to take the shelter in open parks of Delhi since the last few days. Talking to Early Times, the expelled students hailing from both regions informed that they were studying in the university since last two years pursuing various Engineering courses but added that they were force by the university authorities to leave the university were told to vacate the as the concerned ministry did not pay the scholarship amount. They said that all the students were selected for these courses under PM Scholarship program launched by union government during Manmohan Singh led UPA regime. "All the expelled students belong to poor families and cannot afford the tuition fee demanded by the university," they said. The students said they have been spending nights in parks for the past few days. "nobody is there to help us," they lamented. They urged upon Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as well as to Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh to intervene and talk to union HRD Minister Samriti Irani for early clearance of the pending scholarship amount. They also urged the state government to seek revocation of their expulsion. It is pertinent to mention that several students selected for various courses from the state of Jammu and Kashmir under much hyped PM scholarship scheme were expelled from colleges from across India after MHRD government of India failed to release the scholarship amount. |
