Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 25: Notwithstanding the losses incurred by the JK Cements Ltd over the past few years, the management has spent around three lacs to appease the Public undertaking committee (PUC). The amount was spent over a lavish wazwan for a visiting team of PUC. However, none among the PUC members tasted it. The MD wasted rupees three lac for the PUC authorities who were scheduled to visit the JK cement site on August 5. But the PAC members postponed their visit and three lacs spent on the wazwan went down the drain, Early Times learnt from reliable sources. An official said that the employees received salaries after six months as no funds were available. How did they manage Rs 3 lacs for the wazwaan, he questioned. He said the MD wanted to appease the PUC members. The employees have severely criticised the MD for wasting precious funds of the corporation. They further informed that the salary issue also led to a minor scuffle between MD and employees President. When contacted, Rakesh Kumar, MD of the corporation, said that the PUC postponed their program due to some issues. However, he said that they did not spend even a single penny for them. Rakesh said: "I don't know who your source is but the truth is that I working hard to run the corporation. Those who criticise the management must go fr self introspection." |
