People of Rajouri decries for water 8/31/2015 11:25:36 PM Early Times Report Rajouri, Aug 31: Most of the water supply schemes in Rajouri district have become defunct due to wrong selection of water resources, as most of these sources have dried up, mismanagement by the PHE officials, embezzlements of money sanctioned for the schemes (remained incomplete even after several years of beginning of construction work of these schemes) and due to last year flash floods and theft of pipes etc. Every day inhabitants of various areas have been holding protest demonstrations against the PHE department /officials alleging that they are deprived of safe drinking water and were forced to collect contaminated water from rivers/natural sources after covering distance between 2-4 kilometers. "Concerned PHE officials/ district officials were approached several times to mitigate our problem of safe drinking water. But it seems that these officials take our demands casually and despite hollow promises they don't bother to mitigate our problems" said Dev Raj Namrata Kumari and others.
