Agitated locals apprehend PPF Official for allegedly demanding bribe | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Sept 3: In a bizarre incident a Senior Assistant (SA) working at office of Public Provident Fund (PPF) Udhampur today was caught by the agitated people who came to claim their Public Provident Funds (PPF) at Udhampur when he allegedly demanded enticement to release their cheques. Police have registered a case in this regard. "The accused PPF employee has been identified as Joginder Singh, police sources said. According to some local and eye witnesses, the Incident took place when some employees today came to the office of Public Provident Fund (PPF) Udhampur to collect their cheques made against their accounts but the Senior assistant allegedly demanded a share of 10 % of the amount as mentioned in the cheques. "When some of employees refused to his deal, he instantly denied to release their cheques," said a local employee Vikramjeet. Another employee of SIDCO Udhampur Rahul Gupta alleged the same person has received Rs 3000 has been received on clearance of a cheque worth Rs 30000/- some days ago from a person. Accusing rampant corruption in PPF office, one Shiv Dutt Singh also alleged that the SA has demanded money to release his cheque worth Rs 31,500/-. Meanwhile another employee Maheshwar Singh also alleged mal-practice in office and said he was asked to pay some cut off against the release cheque of his hard earned money Rs 27500/- Meanwhile Rohit Sethi youth leader immediately informed the police and police during interaction with the PPF Employee found that accused Joginder has consumed some drug and then shifted him to the Distt Hospital under Medico Legal Case (MLC). A case in this connection stands registered at Police Station Udhampur. |
