Higher Education in mess, Akthar least bothered | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 3: Hundreds of contractual lecturers and students in Jammu region are suffering due to the alleged lackadaisical attitude of the Education Minister Naeem Akhtar. Sources told Early Times that the present regime is following the footsteps of the ousted NC-Cong regime as it has failed to live upto the expectations of common masses, including the student community. "The Education Minister Naeem Akhtar seems least interested in bringing any visible change in the quality of education. Majority of the colleges in Jammu region are without teachers forcing students to hit the streets which has now become a routine," they said. Recently, students stopped the MP Mehbooba Mufti and asked her to provide them teachers. She assured them that she would talk to concerned Minister. They said the non-seriousness of the Government can be gauged from the fact that recently hundreds of contractual teachers were thrown out without assigning any reasons. "Instead of improving the situation the present Government has worsened it by creating complete mess in the Higher Education Department that too at the time when semester system has been introduced and the exams are approaching. The present mess has broken the backbone of Higher Education Department of Jammu division", they added. They said that the higher education is suffering from the crisis which is its own creation. "The rules and regulations have been thrown to the winds. The mess can be sorted immediately and everything can be restored by just taking some simple initiatives," they opined. |
