Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 3: Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has extended full support to the protesting contractual college lecturers.
According to press release, Lokinder Singh said that lecturers/ Teaching Assistants from different colleges of Jammu University demonstrated and demanded immediate ban on appointment of "Guest faculty" in different colleges as the court has stayed the appointment of lecturers on academic arrangement. He said that now the government is making appointment by changing the nomenclature from "Lecturers on a Academic Arrangement" to "Guest faculty". Since the Nodal principal was not present, the matter was discussed with Prof. R. S Jamwal, Member Academic Committee.
He was informed that on the pretext of Guest Faculty, the Principals are appointing the Guest faculty members and thus playing with the career of students as it puts up question mark on the quality of education the students will get from these "Guest Faculty" members.
Jamwal was also requested to take up the matter with higher authorities to ban such appointments and to take up the matter of Academic arrangements with Advocate General so that it is resolved at the earliest and these lecturers / Teaching Assistants will be appointed in their respective allotted colleges without any further delay.
The demonstrators warned that massive demonstration across the colleges in the whole province shall be held in case the appointments of these"Guest Faculty" members is not banned. Others who were present were Suresh Sharma, Sheetal Sharma, Gurcharan Singh, Yogesh Sharma, Kuldeep singh, Mahesh, Arti choudhary, Seema Devi.
