The news about the re ward of luxurious vehicles for the MLAs and MLCs of the state has compelled the gullible people of state to guess whether these 100 sports utility vehicles Mohindra Scorpio costing Rs.11.26 lakh each is being rewarded to the MLAs and MLCs for their unprecedented performance or for their non-deliverance of good governance during five months of their rulein the state. This huge sum amounting to 11 crore rupees is being doled out to the legislators with the aim of providing them luxurious vehicles in place of the less luxurious one which they are already possessing. There is an old saying, Koi roe maanko, koi roe mousiko. Son of a poor father was cursing his fate for nothaving shoes but soon he felt grateful when he saw a man who didn't had feet even. Their claim to have luxurious vehicles appears genuine and justified at the first instance but have they ever visualized the fate of those passengers and school going children, travelling on the roof and hanging the rear part of the jam packed buses. Have they ever thought about the rehabilitation of the POK refugees, regularize the decades old daily wagers, cared about compensating the people living along the IB and LOC who often become the target of cross border firing resulting into causality of human lives and their livestock. Have they ever cared for therehabilitation of the victims of 2014 floods, landslides. Do they know that more than 80 percent of state population is living piteous life in the absence of medical, educational facilities.still there are many hilly areas in the state where there is no connectivity with the result the natives and the students reach their destinations and schools crossing flooded rivers and nallahas during the rainy days. The treasury benches and the opposition know that the present government got almost empty treasury in legacyfrom their predecessors which is too little to pay off the liabilities of the previous government. Due to the shortage of funds the developmental work of the entire state has come to stand still. There are many government employees in the state who have not received their salaries for years together. The PDS shops sane ration, kerosene oil, there is scarcity of teaching staff in the schools and colleges, the hospitals and the dispensaries are functioning without doctors and the drugs in the rural areas, Large chunk of population, except those living in cities or district headquarters, are living without blood transfusion facilities and the firefighting devices which take many precious lives in the event of sudden breakout of fire. It is strange that those who are the custodians of public welfare are totally unmindful of common man'a sufferings and are burning the candle at both ends. 'Koi mare koi jiyeSuthragoleBatashapiye'. The feelings of countrymen get hurt when they watch pandemonium, walk outs, hurling of microphones and chairs over each other in the parliament and legislative assemblies of the states whenever any matter pertaining to the welfare and the amenities for the public comes for debate before the houses. Hats off for the spirit of discipline they exhibit in the houses whenever any matter pertaining to the salleries, perks and amenities for the honorable legislators and that of the parliamentarians comes for discussion. Such bills, amendments are passed unanimously with the thumping majority of the house. There are instances in the history when the rulers of ancient Indian kingdoms who refused to use those items which were scarce for the use of common man. Many British Prime Minister gave up adding sugar to their teas when their country was passing through sugar crises. Sacrifice for the masses is the true testimony of one's patriotism. Amount of Rs. 11 crores is a big amount which can provide 3000 ventilators to the hospitals, 150 ambulances, provide 3300 houses to those who were rendered home less during cross border firing, install small scale industries, open 250 dispensaries in rural areas, provide 300 middle schools in education sector which can ensure quality education, health facilities to the masses and provide employment to thousands of unemployed youth. The money comes from the pocket of poor man who lives in the slums andcontributes in the shape of tax he pays for his beeries, cigarettes, cup of tea, rags he bears match stick thali of meals and the water he drinks. It is noble suggestion from the people of the state to the aspiring legislators to come forward and say no to the offer with one voice. In this way they will set an example and will definitely become role model for the next generation of legislators. Not to talk of luxurious vehicles the grateful people of state will provide you with westland helicopters in future. |
