| Two narco-smugglers held with 14 kg poppy straw | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 8: Two narcotics smugglers were arrested alongwith the contraband of poppy straw (bhukki) weighing upto 14 kgs during a naka checking in Narwal locality of Jammu region of state.
Police said that duo has been identified namely as Mohd Javed of Silla, Reasi and Raj Kumar of W-, RS Pura.
"Acting on a tip off, police team led by SHO Naveen Angral and In-charge police post Narwal, PSI Vishal Kumar under the supervision of SDPO East Mohd Rafiq Manhas, SP south Udhay Baskar and In-charge SSP Jammu Rajiv Panday laid a naka at Narwal Chowk and intercepted a a truck bearing regd no: JK02AE-1684 on its way from Srinagar to Jammu," police said.
Police spokesperson said, "During the thorough checking of truck the police recovered 14 kgs of poppy straw (Bhukki) from the possession of above two persons.
Police spokesman said that both were arrested on the spot and vehicle along with poppy straw has been seized.
A case under FIR no 219 /2015 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Bahu Fort while further investigation is on. |
