| HC lifts stay on selection of 772 lecturers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 08: High court judge B S Walia today ordered to lift the stay on the selection of 772 posts of lecturers and directed the official respondents to finalize the result of the selection.
The petitioners' counsel submitted that the challenge in the writ petitions is only qua appointment to the posts of teaching assistants. Therefore, he had no objection if the state goes ahead with filling up the posts of lecturers out of the selection made so far.
After hearing the two sides, Justice Walia in view of the statement made by the counsel for the parties modified the order dated July 28, 2015 whereby the state had been restrained from finalizing the result of selection to the posts of lecturers.
On apprehension expressed by the counsel appearing for the petitioner, the advocate general stated that circular No HE/Gen/Cir/2015 dated August 31, 2015 providing for appointment of guest faculty against the post of teaching assistants would not be acted upon till the next date before the bench.
Looking into the urgency involved, the court directed the Registry to list this matter on September, 17, 2015 higher up in the cause list. (JNF) |
