BJP, PDP differ over transfers, postings in Police Deptt | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 17: There is almost no agreement between BJP and PDP over the transfers and postings of police officers as a result of which some wings continue to be headless. Police sources pointed out that due to the difference of opinion between the two coalition partners over the names of some officers, transfers could not be done in the previous cabinet meetings. Due to the disagreement over the choice of officers, the yesterday's postings of five senior police officers were also done with any cabinet approval, the sources added, saying the process was likely to be delayed further as there was lack of unanimity among the coalition partners and both wanted their own men to be posted against important positions. Sources said while on some occasions the Home Department prepared lists of officers for their transfers and postings, these were dropped in the cabinet meetings as the two coalition partners could not arrive at a consensus over the choice of some names. While the Chief Minister had told in clear terms that BJP would decide about the police transfers in Jammu region, some PDP ministers had in the cabinet meetings raised objections over the BJP's choice of some officers, sources informed. Sources said in the absence of unanimity between the coalition partners, BJP could not post its own officer as DIG, Jammu. |
