Law Secretary tastes police `hospitality'

srinagar, Sept 17: In a shocking development, the police intercepted the Vehicle of Law Secretary, Muhammad Ashraf Mir outside his Civil Secretariat office and took him to Shaheed Gunj Police station.
According to reports, two police officials stopped his vehicle outside the Civil Secretariat and asked his driver to move towards Shaheed Gunj Police station without explaining reasons.
The driver, reports said informed the police that the person in his vehicle was State's Law Secretary. The driver, said the reports, was rudely told to take the vehicle to the police station.
After walking out of the police station, sources said that law secretary straightaway rushed to meet the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to inform him about the incident, however, according sources it was not confirmed why Police officials Posted at Civil Secretariat took the Law Secretary to Police station along with his official vehicle. He was, however, set free after some time.
Minutes after Law Secretary drove his vehicle to meet the Chief Minister, news about his detention spread in civil secretariat.
Sources said that the said police officer was immediately transferred to the district police headquarter and another police official on duty who intercepted law secretary's vehicle was attached to the police station.
Sources inside civil secretariat said that taking cognizance of the matter many officials posted in Civil Secretariat demanded an inquiry and dismissal of the police officials who took the law secretary to police station for unknown reasons.
Distressed officials have taken serious note of the incident. According to them, if the police can detain the law secretary of the state, the plight of the commoner can only be imagined.
Meanwhile repeated attempts to contact the law secretary went in vain.
