No Government Policy on Pakistan leading to border tension : Congress
9/17/2015 11:36:59 PM
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 17: Blaming the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led National Democratic Alliance government for not having a policy towards Pakistan, the Congress party today said that it had led to Kashmiri youth taking to terrorism and continued Pak shelling on the border.
"This is a matter of grave concern that according to the army chief, police officers here and officials of other agencies, the recruitment (of youth into terrorist ranks) is increasing. This is a (matter of) concern not only to Kashmir but to the whole country," said Ghulam Nabi Azad, senior Congress leader.
The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir also accused the Centre for not being able to reduce tension at the border despite their assurances of peace.
He said, "The main reason for this is there is no policy of the government towards Pakistan. Pakistan has always been attempting to keep the flames of the fire going... But the Central government should have tried to improve the situation. Rather, it has deteriorated the situation further."
There have been over 10 ceasefire violations by Pakistan in September alone. Eleven people, including two jawans, were killed and over 30 injured in August.
This year, there have been over 250 violations of the border ceasefire agreement by Pakistan, of which 57 were in August.
