Latti-Galiya locals call on Naib Tehsildar, demand tehsil office at Galiya

Udhampur, Sept 17: The deputation of people of Latti -Galiya today called on Naib Tehsildar and submitted their demand regarding proposition of land for Tehsildar Headquarters at Latti (Galiya) instead of Dhunaa.
Local reports said that hundreds of locals assembled outside the Office of Naib Tehsildar and then a deputation of locals called on the Naib Tehsildar demanding proposed Tehsil office at (Galyia) and apprised him that the land proposed at Dhuna will be mere burden on government exchequer.
Hemraj who led the deputation said that proposed land is in a land sliding prone area and is engulfed with forest thus construction of concrete building will further become a great threat to the nature and environment .
Naib Sarpanch Rattan Chand further stated that over 300 kanals of land is available in village and people are willing to donate the required land for Tehsil headquarters without any conditions.
When contacted concerned Tehsildar said that the place is just proposed yet has not been approved.
He also said a team will be constituted for the inspection of the site but he assured keeping concern of people in view the best decision will be made for the sake of the society.
"The then govt established a make shift tehsil office in a Dharamshala in Galyia which was donated by Jagannath in the year 2002, said local resident Devraj, adding, "since then the Naib Tehsildar is been functioned here and at the distance of 20 metres there is a patwarkhana and thus it is the most suitable place for functioning of Tehsil.
