Adil, Ian help J&K salvage draw against Kerela | | | SRINAGAR, Oct 4 : Superb half centuries from top order batsmen, Adil Reshi and Ian Dev Singh today saved J&K from a possible defeat thereby helped hosts make it a draw against Kerela in Ranji Trophy Group C match played at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, here. However, given a target of 71 runs in remaining eight overs game after J&K showed tough resistance to make 225 runs in 82.5 overs, Kerela could score 44 runs losing four wickets. The draw helped Kerela earn three points as against one by J&K. Earlier, as against the expert advise of adding more runs to the total, Kerela declared their innings at the overnight total of 485 for eight and invited hosts for bat. The visitors' plot to bowl out J&K was foiled by the top order, especially the duo of Ian Dev and Adil, who together added 61 runs for the second wicket partnership. While Ian made 99-ball 55 runs hitting three fours and two sixes, Adil contributed 54 runs with the help of eight boundaries. Now, in their next match, J&K shall take on Himachal Pradesh at Dharmshala from October eight. |
