Corruption allegations against J&K BJP Ministers peeves RSS | Bhagwat to hear complaints | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 4: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the socio-religious organisation from which BJP claims to draw inspiration, is peeved over accusations of corruption and nepotism against BJP ministers, MLAs and MLCs. From the local leadership of RSS to the headquarters in Nagpur, reports of corruption have been flowing thick and fast. A RSS functionary in an interaction with Early Times revealed that though BJP has its own mechanism of dealing with complaints of corruption and nepotism against the ministers, MLAs and MLCs, RSS being the ideological fountain head has its own network of Swayamsevaks who are keeping a close eye on the functioning of the coalition Government. What we are hearing is shocking and appalling, said the functionary. He added "We are taught commitment towards nation, honesty, integrity, truthfulness and straightforwardness. If any functionary who is drafted into BJP for social service deviates from these commandments, he is liable to be punished and penalised." He said that corrupt would not be tolerated for long and action would be taken against them who are found guilty. "Levelling allegation is one thing and providing proof for the same is another thing. Since the reports are being investigated, we have no option but to wait for the results. Once the results are available, swift action would follow. Our role is limited to keeping the party (BJP) in the know-how of the happenings in the state with regard to working of BJP ministers, MLAs and MLCs; then it is upto the party leadership in New Delhi to cleanse the party of the rotten elements if there are any," said the functionary who enjoys close proximity with Bhaiya ji Joshi, the second-in-command in RSS. He elaborated on the reports and said that Sangh has received letters as well as verbal complaints from party functionaries wherein accusations have been levelled that relatives and aides have been extracting money and other gifts in lieu of transfers and postings from Government officials. "There is complaint against a senior minister that his close relatives have been asking for money for transfer and posting of officials of the department headed by him," said the functionary. A group of party functionaries recently complained that another senior minister's aides and officials are into corrupt practices, informed the RSS functionary. He said that all these reports have been directly sent to the RSS headquarter in Nagpur besides forwarding copies of these complaints to the National President of the Party Amit Shah. "Not only this, some MLAs and MLCs are also being accused of indulging in corrupt practices," added the functionary. Stating that RSS Sarsanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat is visiting Jammu and Kashmir in the next few days, the functionary said "Our functionaries would make everything known to the Sarsanghachalak. We believe in keeping our mouths shut till the time, those who matter are not around. After Bhagwat ji's visit concludes, you would see heads rolling in BJP. Otherwise also, the performance of ministers will be reviewed after another 6 months by the party." It is for BJP to take action and our role is limited to advising them to do what is good for party, said the functionary, seconded by many others who were present at Vir Bhawan. However, on being asked about these allegations, a top BJP leader said "This is normal in a system to receive complaints against your ministers, MLAs and MLCs. Most of the times, it is propaganda of the opposition but we have created a mechanism wherein we take every accusation seriously and order internal party probe. If there is any truth in the allegations, strict action would follow. Party will pay no heed to the seniority of the minister or leader." What makes this interesting was his request not to be named in the news report since it would go against the discipline of the party. |
