2 wanted JeM militants killed in Tral encounter | | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 4: Two militants were killed in an encounter with the security forces at Tral today. According to Police Sources, Army's 42 RR and SOG Awantipora following information about presence of two militants cordoned off the Hari village in Tral area. Two militants who were hiding in the area opened fire upon the joint team of forces. However in retaliation security forces managed to kill both the militants identified by sources as Adil Pathan and Burmi, both from Pakistan. Police Sources said that both the militants were active in the area from many years. Security forces termed the encounter as a major success as both the militants were wanted in many cases. JeM according to credible reports is considered responsible for several major attacks in the state and Delhi as well, including the one on Parliament on December 13, 2001. As per details JeM outfit was founded by Masood Azhar, one of the three noted militants released in exchange of passengers and the crew of the hijacked Indian Airlines plane in December 1999. Notably Tral area of Pulwama at present times is considered as a volatile area keeping in view most number of active local militants than any other area of Jammu and Kashmir. |
