Early Times Report
Kathua, Oct 29: Following High Court direction to retrieve state land from encroachers, Hiranagar tehsil administration, as part of its anti-encroachment drive at village Pansar situated along the International Border, today foiled an attempt of encroachers to grab 21 kanals of state lands. A few women, who were present on the encroached land, attacked the revenue and police officials. The team was lead by Tehsildar Hiranagar Jatendra Mishra who was accompanied by Naib-Tehsildar Kartar Chand, other officials from tehsil administration, police personnel and panchayat members. 21 kanals of state land, which was grabbed by unidentified nomads who actually are not even the residents of Kathua, was retrieved. When the team reached the spot and asked the encroachers to vacate the land, they started using abusive language and attacked the officials, resulting in injuries to some of them. While interacting with media, Mishra informed that the Tehsil administration in collaboration with Police department retrieved 21 kanal State land and foiled encroachment attempt. He said the team followed High Court's direction and ensured to take similar actions in future to vacate state land in entire Tehsil. Ghan Shayam, a local, said the district administration kept the land for playground of adjoining government school a few years back but since it was yet to be handed over to the authorities concerned, the nomads were making frequent attempts to encroach upon it. Sarpanch of the village demanded that the land must be developed as playground to avoid encroachment attempts. He said adjoining 427 kanals meant for grazing was also entirely encroached and the district administration must vacate that land too. |
