PDP working overtime to make PM rally a grand success | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 29: The PDP, in support from its coalition partner BJP, is working overtime to ensure that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally at Srinagar on November 7 will be the major take off rather than the bandh call given by separatists. According to sources, both parties have planned a strategy to make sure that the first rally by the PM after formation of the government in Srinagar not only becomes historic but also the only talking point in the media. "We have put our planning in place. The party cadre is working overnight and people are being made to realize the importance of the rally and their participation is being ensured. They are also reminded about the historic rally of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and this is working on the ground," said a senior PDP leader. The PDP leadership especially Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed know the games and the strategies of the separatists and how to beat them in their own game. "In 2003, when he was the CM, Mufti not only ensured that Vajpayee's rally in Srinagar was a success but also relegated separatists to the corner. He changed the discourse on Kashmir by gravitating it around Vajpayee's visit, and he will do it this time also. This is what is worrying the separatists and their handlers across the border who have given a call for bandh," said the sources. They said that to take a sting out of the separatists' propaganda, Mufti in consultation with the PM could make a major announcement before the PM arrives in Srinagar. Sources said the BJP too has decided to chip in and it will be sending its cadre not only from Kashmir but also from Jammu region. Top leadership of the BJP is arriving soon and will coordinate with the PDP in this regard. "The killing of Abu Qasim just before the PM's visit is a critical point. It has sent the message that government and security forces don't want to take any chance, and it's a signal to separatists and their handlers across the border to keep off during the visit of Modi to the state," said the sources. |
