5 months on, Khansahib awaits SDM 10/30/2015 12:16:15 AM Early Times Reporrt Srinagar, Oct 29: The Government has failed to fill the post of SDM Khansahib for the past five months. The minister also hails from the same district. Details available with Early Times reveal that post of SDM Khansahib became vacant after Mohammad Ajaz Chowdhary, IAS was transferred from Khansahib and posted as Deputy Secretary in Chief Minister's Secretariat. The Government failed to post a new officer at Ajaz's place during the cabinet reshuffle which took place in May this year. It is now almost 5 months and the new SDM is yet to be posted at Khansahib by the authorities. According to locals, the land revenue cases, issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates (PRC's), Backward Area Certificates (RBA's) , ST certificates etc has been badly hit as new SDM is yet to take over the charge. "There are dozens of PRC, RBA, ST, land dispute cases which are pending for disposal in SDM office Khansahib , this is directly creating problems for the locals , we appeal local MLA Hakeem Yasin to take up this issue with the Chief Minister to post a new SDM at Khansahib, "said Abdul Rashid a local resident of Khansahib. Pertinently, the government transferred several Assistant Commissioner's of Revenue (ACR's) and Tehsildars (prematurely) by violating the circular issued by the State Chief Electoral Officer who had asked Government not to transfer any of these officers until January 2016 as Electoral Summary Revision (ESR) was in progress in state. The ACRs and Tehsildars are assigned jobs of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) respectively in their respective districts and from the last many months these officers are fully involved in the Electoral Summary Revision (ESR) which is an important work they have been assigned by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
