After failing to act against big wigs, Lal Singh targets low rung employees | | | ET Report JAMMU, Oct 29: The Health Minister Chaudary Lal Singh is again in the news this time for suspending a sweeper and four para-medical staffers at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) here. Sources told Early Times after failing to act against the bigwigs in the health department Singh has now started targeting low rung employees. "On Wednesday Singh took a note about parents of newly born neonates giving tip to the class-IV employees in the GMCH labour room and suspended a sweeper in this connection." The sweeper, according to the sources, begged before the minister to spare him. "The minister put a condition saying he would spare the sweeper if he identifies other people who take tips from the people." Sources said, "The sweeper tried to explain it to the Minister that no one asks for tips but people give it on their own. However, minister refused to listen to him and placed two nurses and two nursing orderlies under suspension who were on duty in the GMCH labour room to satiate his ego and to establish his writ." Insiders revealed that Health Minister targeting low rung employees have taken a serious note of the highhandedness of the Minister and they have threatened to go on strike if the suspension of their colleagues is not revoked forthwith. Pertinently, since the day Lal Singh has taken the charge he has stirred the hornet's nest on many occasions by taking unwanted steps and acting like a dictator. |
