The inspector general of police (IGP), traffic, Vipul Kumar, said no traffic from Jammu to Srinagar will be allowed on the highway on October 31 and November 1. The order stands for the army convoys as well. The IGP said the traffic police had made elaborate arrangements for smooth movement of vehicles moving out of the summer capital as the winter sets in. Durbar move is a traditional shifting of the secretariat and other government offices from Srinagar to the winter capital Jammu and back every six months. The Srinagar to Jammu shift takes place in November and the reversal in May. The civil secretariat will open in Jammu on November 9. |
