Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 29: Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS), Ambphalla today held a meeting to discuss the situation arisen due to the ill-conceived policy framed by the department of Relief and Rehabilitation besides minister concerned in putting special impediments to deny displaced Kashmiri Pandits from taking monthly ration thereby causing great concern to entire community.
President Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) K K Khosa said. It seems that the ministry is bent upon deriving sadistic pleasure out of the miseries being faced by the beleaguered community which otherwise faces colossal problems in day to day life. Khosa said that State Govt is trying to take reprehensive steps in disposal of matters pertaining to displaced in matters of encroachment of personal property, temple / Shrine lands, institutional property etc. He wondered why the new coalition partners could not frame an Apex structure for displaced where in problems faced by the community could be discussed and reminded that earlier Apex Committee model proved a failure and a new structure having a truly representative character should be convened urgently. Braroo, Senior Vice-President reminded Chief Minister that educational institution like DAV Higher Secondary School, Gogji Bagh, Srinagar which suffered damage last year in flood have been denied permission for reconstruction inspite of his assurance to community representatives in a meeting convened by him at Delhi in presence of Ram Madhav and Amitabh Mattoo that permission will be granted.
Members also expressed deep anguish and said that all repressive and regressive steps initiated by Relief Commissioner at the behest of Minister concerned especially non issuance of RBA certificate, extremely cumbersome procedure of sanctioning medical relief etc need to be immediately reversed otherwise it will be a catastrophe and community may be forced to come on streets.
Among others who spoke on the occasion included S L Bagati, G J Kampassi, Ashok Khar, Subash Dhar, B L Tickoo, Rajinder Tickoo, Dr Ashok Kaul, Ms Usha Tickoo and Ms Shama Hando.
