All JKREF alleges govt fails to defend constitutional rights | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 29: All J&K Retired Employees Forum (JKREF) alleged that State Government failed to defend the constitutional rights of reservation in promotion of SC/ST and other backward classes. Addressing media persons, former Principal District and Sessions Judge and president of Forum SS Sarngal said that government could not defend the constitutional rights of reservation in promotion of SC/ST and other backward classes in case Ashok Kumar v/s State & others which was decided by the High Court on October 9, 2015. “By’ virtue of this judgment many people belonging to SC/ST and other backward classes have been deprived of their valuable fundamental right of promotion to higher posts. In a democratic set up, it is the duty of the government to make welfare schemes for the SC,ST and other backward classes including the provision for the reservation in appointment or posts for backward classes as enshrined in article 16(4) of the Indian Constitution. We are hoping welfare of the down trodden at the hands of the present government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Forum appealed to Chief Minister to personally intervene in this sensitive issue and take necessary steps to save the reservation in promotion of the employees belonging to SC/ST and OBC in the larger interest of the down trodden of the state . Among those who were present on the occasion included Sewa Dass Digra, CL Banal, Harbans Lai, UC Dingra, HR Phonsa, Nagar Mai, Capt. Biru Ram, GD Dogra, GL Bhagat, Amar Nath, GL Lakhnotra, KL Attri and SN Dogra.
