Fix accountability on dead wood in JU, demands JYF 11/19/2015 10:49:35 PM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 19: Staging a protest against Vice Chancellor University of Jammu (JU), the Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) demanded pre-mature retirement of senior professors who are sitting idle in the varsity's Directorate of Distance Education for the last several years and drawing lakhs of rupees as salary. Addressing the protesters, JYF President Mohd Akram Ahmed said, "It is shame on the part of JU Vice Chancellor Prof R D Sharma who has given patronage to a good number of DDE senior professors who are drawing hefty salaries and that too without doing any work for the last several years. They are teaching just 15 classes per year under Personal Contact Programme while drawing huge amount every month. It exposes the claims of accountability and transparency in the University functioning." Akram said that ever since Prof Ramji Dass Sharma has occupied the chair of VC, he has been functioning on the strength of negativity on all the front particularly DDE. He also said that the functioning of the DDE has been put to jeopardy by not providing them the requisite numbers of contractual faculty and the logistic support to run the undergraduate courses with the tacit intention to weaken the Director DDE.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
