Seeking another communal partition | Whose aspirations in J&K Pakistan talks about? | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 19: Pakistan on Wednesday again poked its dirty nose in the internal affairs of India and asserted that aspirations of Kashmiris could neither be ignored nor suppressed. It accused India of laying down conditions for resumption of talks with Islamabad to resolve all the outstanding issues between the two nations, including the so-called issue of Jammu & Kashmir. "Unilateralism and preconditions are a recipe for gridlock in relations…India should revisit its position as it defied logic to be locked in a perpetual conflictual relationship. Aaspirations of Kashmiris can neither be ignored nor suppressed. The Kashmir dispute is the root cause of all bilateral problems," said Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit in New Delhi, adding that Pakistan always wanted "a normal relationship with India as peace was not only in the interest of the two countries but also in the interest of the region as a whole". Reflecting on the reasons that, according to provocative High Commissioner, did not allow the two neighbours to bring mutual hostility to an end, Basit further said, "The root cause of all the bilateral problems was the longstanding Jammu & Kashmir dispute" and reiterated that "aspirations of Kashmiris can neither be ignored nor suppressed; the sooner it is realised the better it would be". Basit made these despicable comments days after his Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wrote to the leader of women separatist outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat Asiya Indrabi, praising her role and pledging "moral, political and diplomatic" support of his government. It was clear from what Basit said that Pakistan will not reform itself and that it will continue to arouse anti-India passions in Kashmir by making nasty statements. It wants another communal partition of India, which will never happen. Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh is not a homogeneous state; it is highly diverse. Even Kashmir region is not homogeneous. It is inhabited by a large number of religious and ethnic groups and it is some members of one particular religious sect who have been indulging in anti-national activities, despite the fact that it is the same sect that has been ruling the roost in the state since October 1947, when the state acceded to India. Why is Pakistan interfering in the internal affairs of India on a daily-basis? Islamabad is interfering because New Delhi is soft. New Delhi has hardly put the whole issue in perspective by telling Pakistan and international forums that Kashmir is not the entire State of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and that while Jammu province and Ladakh region, which constitute over 88 per cent of the state's land area and are inhabited by more than half of the state's population, besides many religious and ethnic groups in the Valley, have nothing to do with the ongoing secessionist movement, the problem in Kashmir is one of communalism and sectarianism. But more than that, New Delhi has never tried to implement the 1994 Parliamentary unanimous resolution that mandated the Union Government to liberate from Pakistan Pakistan-occupied-Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan region. New Delhi has to adopt a clear-cut stand on Jammu & Kashmir. New Delhi is in an advantageous position as everything favours it. The fact of the matter is that the entire nation is one as far as its stand on Jammu & Kashmir is concerned. |
