Urdu day celebration held at JU 11/19/2015 10:51:21 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 19: Department of Urdu, University of Jammu organized a function today in Prof.Gian Chand Jain Seminar Hall of the Urdu Department in connection with Urdu Day Celebration. According to press release the function was attended by large number of scholars, Students and civil society members. Head of the Department of Urdu Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik presided over the function while Dr.Mohd Reyaz Ahmed Associate Professor of the Urdu also graced the presidium. Prof. Asadullah Wani was chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion the speakers severaly criticized the state Govt. for ignoring its official language Urdu. They said present government has totally failed to gives its due status to Urdu. The Dogra rulers promote Urdu language in J&K state but after partition it was neglected by democratic governments. In his presidential address Prof Shohab Inayat Malik criticized successive state government for ignoring the Urdu language he said that Urdu is not only a language but also a civilization which has connect the three regions of the state. Prof Asadullah Wani and Dr Mohd Reyaz too were of the view Urdu would play a vital role in maintaining communal harmony and mutual brotherhood. Proceeding of the programme was conducted by Mohd Zakir.
