Smugglers held, bovine rescued | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 18: Rajouri Police have arrested 16 bovine smugglers and rescued 88 bovines, under special drive. According to sources, acting tough against the bovine smugglers police during last three days have arrested 16 bovine smugglers and rescued 88 bovines from their clutches who were on way to Srinagar/Kashmir Valley on foot/ in the vehicles to sell these animals at very high rates as the demand of these animals is increasing day by day after the onset of winter in the Kashmir Valley. Inspector Narinder Chib, SHO, Thanamandi on the intervening night of November 18 & 19 intercepted 4 Tata mobile vehicles near Thanamndi town and rescued 15 animals from the clutches of namely Iftikhar Hussain, Shehzad Ahmed, Sajjad Malik and Altaf HUssain. Since January this year Rajouri police have rescued 1038 bovines from 241 smugglers who were also arrested and have also seized 107 vehicles. On the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday police had rescued 34 bovine animals from the clutches of smugglers at different places under the jurisdiction of Rajouri police station. On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday 30 animals were rescued by the Rajouri police from 7 bovine smugglers under the jurisdictions of Rajouri, Dharamshal and Kandi police stations. Dr Haseeb Mughal, former Rajouri SSP had launched the drive against the bovine smugglers which is continued under the supervision of Rajeshwar Singh, present SSP. After specific inputs inspector Chaman Gorkha, SHO Rajouri police station laid naka on the highway in the late evening hours on Tuesday and rescued 10 bovines from the clutches of Mohf Rafiq and another Mohd Rafiq who were on way to Mughal road to proceed to Kashmir valley on foot. Both have been booked in case FIR NO.580/15. Ravinder Kumar, in-charge Triyath police post (under Dharamshal police station) also seized two Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration Nos,JK11-7590 and JK20-8019 and recovered 6 bovines from the clutches of Bhuri Lal and Charan Dass both resident of Reasi district and were on way to Srinagar via Budhal-Targain-Shopian route.Both have been arrested and booked in case FIR NO 119/2015 & 120/2015 . |
