Drubeel- Chatroo locals protest over forced 'blackout' for past one week | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar Nov 20: The inhabitants of Drubeel in Chatroo area of Kishtwar District are without electricity since last one week and are witnessing forced blackout for the last one week following 25 KW transformer installed in the said village developing a technical snag. The inhabitants, who today held protest against Power Development Department (PDD) informed the "Early Times" despite their repeated requests to concerned officials of PDD, nothing has been done in this regard as they have failed to replace the 25 KW till date and forcing locals to remain under 'blackout.' They lamented that due to failure of the department not only the people suffered but the students who are appearing in various board examinations are suffering badly. "We are demanding up gradation of transformer from existing 25 KW to 63 KW due to the load upon the existing transformer and over 70 new connections are registered in the area that also are catered upon the old transformer, " said Sarpanch Puran Chand. Sarpanch said that the existing transformer of having low capacity is not enough to cater the ever increasing load upon it and said thus gets out of order now and then. Irked locals while demanding replacing old transformer said, only higher transformer capacity from existing 25 KW to 63 KW will solve the problem faced by the people. He along with the people urged upon Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Dy CM Nirmal Singh who holds the charge of power ministry to look into the genuine demand of inhabitants of village Drubeel and direct the PDD officials at Kishtwar with regard to replacement and upgradation of the transformer in their village. |
