ZEO cares 'two hoots for media' | After ET report Bimla Devi cuts sorry figure, detaches attached teachers | | A B Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 19: A day after Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Lower Hathal Bimla Devi had said that she won't cancel the attachment orders of the teachers as she cares two hoots for media, had to cut a sorry figure on Wednesday soon after the Early Times reported that 'Despite Govt orders, officers refuse rolling back of attached persons.' Sources said that as the news story about Bimla Devi's refusal appeared in this news paper her seniors ostensibly reprimanded her and asked her to detach all the teachers forthwith following which she issued an order no. 1881/ZEO/LH detaching most of the attached teachers in the Lower Hathal zone. The top officials of the Education department, according to the sources, during the past few months had attached scores of teachers in Sunderbani tehsil of Rajouri district. Sources said that officials had violated the orders of the higher ups as they had been told in clear terms not to attach any teachers. When Early Times had contacted the ZEO Bimal Devi she remained adamant and even dared to challenge the fourth estate saying; she cares "two hoots for the media," and won't detach any teachers. The Education Minister Naeem Akhtar earlier this week had conducted a high-level meet of the concerned officers at Dak Bungalow Sunderbani and reiterated his strong communication to the district commissioner Rajouri to take cognizance of the matter and release the attached people and send them to their original place of posting. However the case of headmaster Rakesh Kumar is still in limbo as Bimla Devi has refused to relive the headmaster thus extending more miseries to his original school of posting where already there is dearth of the teachers and 130 students are facing lot of problems with only three teachers at their disposal. Meanwhile, the people of the area have warned the ZEO Bimla Devi to get the headmaster relived, or face agitation. They have even threatened to block the Jammu-Rajouri national highway. "Why Rakesh Kumar is left in her custody who is forced to embrace the clerical works in her department instead of teaching the students which is his pious profession. If Bimla Devi refuses to do the needful in couple of days, she would be responsible for the consequences," said one of the teachers. Meanwhile the education minister Naeem Akhtar said that he would not accept any malpractice. " I have directed all concerned officers to be straight, and any misgiving found anywhere would be dealt with strongly," Akhtar said. |
