MC holds meet, discusses sanitation issues | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 20: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner, Mandeep Kaur regarding providing better sanitation facilities to Municipal areas in co-ordination with NGOs. Various issues were discussed in the meeting to bring improvement in the functioning of JMC. One of the burning issues discussed was to improve sanitation within the limits of JMC. Presently the safaikaramcharis of JMC as well as through NGO are deputed in different wards of JMC. It was decided in the meeting that 27 wards shall be fully handed over to NGO's. The concerned NGO shall be responsible for entire work of sanitation of allotted wards/areas i.e. cleaning/sweeping of lanes, drains, bye lanes & roads, desilting of drains, removing of solid waste from lanes, by lanes, drains etc. NGO Shall be responsible for collection of solid waste at identified open collection points and in the containers placed at specified places in the wards. A lump sum payment (agreed in MoU) shall be made to the NGO after satisfactory certificate from the concerned supervisory staff for sanitation work done in the allotted wards. Sanitary Inspector as well as his superiors shall be entitled to carry out hecks/inspections of the ward entrusted under the present order. If said officer of JMC is not satisfied with the performance of NGO, he shall be penalized. MOU is being prepared & shall be signed with the NGOs concerned. |
