Wakf Board violates RTI Act, has no website 11/26/2015 11:46:13 PM Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 26: Having income of crores , J&K Wakf Board is yet to have an official website of its own, with the result people are denied information about income and expenditure of this organization. Details available with Early Times reveal that J&K Wakf Board which earns income worth crores from various shrines , mosques, shopping complexes across the state has failed to create an official website of its own so that all the details of the wakf board could be made available for public. The absence of official website also amounts to violation of J&K RTI Act 2009 as well because under Section 4 (1) (b) of State RTI Act , all the Public Authorities have to put their details in public domain . "As the Wakf Board has been declared a public authority by State Information Commission (SIC), the non hoisting of website by Wakf Board amounts to violation of RTI Act as well because the board is not disclosing the details about the income and expenditure which is mandatory under section 4 of state RTI Act, " said Dr Mushtaq Khan Senior Member of RTI Movement Pertinently the Muslim Wakf Board in an order issued last year relieved all its employees which had attained the age of 62 years but the Secretary of the board who is more than 80 years of age is still continuing in the board which raises a question mark on the functioning of the Wakf Board. The State Information Commission (SIC) had intervened into this issue after the information about Secretary's qualification certificates was denied by the Wakf Board under RTI Act . While talking to Early Times Umar Javaid RTI Activist from Srinagar alleged that accounts are not properly maintained by the officials of Wakf Board especially at various Ziyarats like Hazratbal, Charar-e-Sharief, Baba Reshi, Makhdoom Sahib.
