RD officials awake, retrieve encroached land in Kathua 11/27/2015 11:52:05 PM Arun Trisal Early Times Reoprt Kathua, Nov 27: The Revenue Department has awakened to snub the land encroachers and released 28.9 kanals and 18.4 kanals grazing land falling in Khasra no. 96/97 and 471 respectively in Panchay at Hamirpur, Tehsil Hiranagar on Friday. Locals had been raising voice against encroachment after being informed by Early Times that in their Panchayat a big chunk of common grazing/government has gone into the possession of some influential persons of the Panchayat. The locals mounted the pressure on administration resulting revenue department's team led by Naib Tehsildar Des Raj conducted a surprise raid and released the two parts of the common grazing/government land from the clutches of encroachers. While speaking to media persons, a local Naresh Khajuria alleges that a Sarpanch, a Panchayat member along with some other influential persons of the Panchayat are the main culprits who managed to encroach the public land that is left since long for common use in the Panchayat. While opposing this act, he warned to launch a massive protest demonstration against the SDM because handing over of the released land into the hands of a person who is also involved in land encroachment cannot be justified.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
