NRIWSI honours son of soil 11/26/2015 11:51:55 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 26 : On the occasion of World Quality Day, NRI Welfare Society of India honoured V.K.Sambyal with Rashtriya Nirman Purushkar Award 2015 for his significant contribution in the field of classical singing at India Habitat Centre New Delhi. In a simple but impressive function held at India Habitat Centre New Delhi, Dr. Bhisham Narayan Singh , former Governor presented award to him in the presence of other dignitaries present on the occasion. Sambyal is a noted classical singer, who belongs to Jammu and is presently working as Station Director Radio Kashmir, Jammu. Sambyal received his initial training in classical music from Thakur Chanchal Singh (Surdas) and Nathji at the age of seven. He completed Bachelors Degree in Music from Institute of Music & Fine Arts, Jammu under the guidance of Prof. Baldev Singh Bali and subsequently did his Masters Degree in Hindustani Vocal Music from Faculty of Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
